(Episode 346; 13 minutes 21) Social networking is here to stay, with no sign of its popularity waning. People are increasingly using these websites, like Twitter, Facebook and Linked-in, to extend their network for business purposes.

Iggy Pintado is an open-networker who has become one of the 25 most connected business networkers in Australia. His book Connection Generation explores the online network phenomenon and the opportunities it presents for business.

On BTalk Australia today he discusses with Phil Dobbie (one of the top 100,00 most connected business networkers!) the 4Ps of online networking. Iggy believes that if you follow this advice you’ll see your network of connections grow and new business opportunities could follow.

Phil also takes on the challenge — he wants to have more followers on Twitter than Iggy in a year. Help him win the challenge by following him on Twitter now.

What are your thoughts on social networking sites — a useful tool for business or a way to waste a lot of time? Add your thoughts in the Talkback section at the end of this post.

RE: The Four Ps of Online Networking | BTalk Australia

For some reason there seems to be an unhealthy focus on
quantity, rather than quality of relationships or network
    contacts.

An open networker is a new-age collector of links, replacing
    stamps or some other item.

Real networking is about building relationships - whereas
open networking is just another form of junk mail.
