The Trick Of The Treat

Those of us in small business realise it’s very different down there in the land of the tall buildings.

Employers (and employees for that matter) are only too ready to down tools and celebrate new business gains or the successful completion of projects and they do so for good reason.

By acknowledging such milestones they are recognising each person’s input and in effect thanking them for a job well done. Now I’m not so naïve as to think the majority of employers do this, but the better ones certainly do and they stand out as a consequence.

So what are we saying to ourselves if we fail to pause and acknowledge? Aren’t we worth it? Don’t we deserve it? Of course we do.

All small businesses need to recognise the trick of the treat. We need to take time out to celebrate our wins … and we need not do it alone. Celebrating successes can be a wonderful thing to do with our fans and supporters — these after all are the yummy people who really get what we do, so of course we should include them. It’s a rather neat way to talk more about what we do and how we do it.

Final thought on the topic: If you know someone who has something to celebrate, but is simply too busy to do it, why not be the person who makes it happen?

Sometimes those around us need to be shown the trick of the treat.

So what have you accomplished lately and what will (or did) you do to celebrate? Post a comment and tell the world.
